Methodology

KCG's methodology for diagnostic, rights-based work across three practice domains — individual development, organizational strategy, and business growth. Distilled from the eight Client Portal courses; the frameworks transfer across domains. This trunk is the licensable core: a partner organization that licenses the methodology gets access to this trunk's content, themed to their brand.

Start with the Methodology Overview — it explains how the seven frameworks fit together as a diagnostic-then-intervention arc.

Umbrellas

Seven Naming the X umbrellas form a diagnostic-then-intervention arc. Each umbrella hands off to the next. Each currently contains one course but is structured to absorb additional courses as KCG produces them.

# Umbrella First course Course Lessons Operates on
1 Naming the Engagement Overview of Coaching 02 12 The engagement frame — what's covered, what isn't, what's required
2 Naming the Cause Root Cause Analysis 03 24 The problem — symptoms vs. structural causes
3 Naming the Objective Strategic Problem Solving 04 18 The objective — complaint vs. finishable target
4 Naming the Structure Structural Clarity 05 12 The diagnosis — me vs. structure
5 Naming the Right Beyond Accommodation 06 9 The accommodation system — rights vs. favors
6 Naming the Signal Leadership for Different Minds 07 9 The leadership communication layer
7 Naming the Calibration Psychological Safety 08 9 The governance layer — calibration vs. familiarity

Onboarding

  • Portal Orientation — procedural orientation for new clients (mirrors Course 01). Not a framework — the working agreement and tour that precedes the methodology arc.

Practices and glossary

  • Practices — TODO. Cross-framework practices (reflection prompts, knowledge checks, client progression) extracted from the courses. Phase 2 follow-up.
  • Glossary (canonical) — methodology vocabulary. The library copy is canonical; this trunk links to it.

What's not in this trunk

This trunk summarizes frameworks. It does not reproduce full course content. A licensee with course access reads the lesson stubs directly in the source repo (~/Documents/GitHub/kcg-client-portal-courses/). A licensee without course access reads these summaries — enough to operate the framework, not enough to teach it.

Open Phase 2 follow-ups

  • Glossary additions. Courses 05–08 introduce terms (translation key, four stops, masking tax, calibration question, three-phase roadmap, four-lever framework, etc.) that aren't yet in the shared glossary. Each framework page lists the open additions in its own Open glossary additions section. Add to library/glossary.md once author-reviewed.
  • Glossary canonicality flip. Phase 1 mirrored the glossary from _archive/_glossary.md. Phase 2 retires the source path; the wiki copy becomes canonical. Confirm before flipping (open question 4 in STATUS.md).
  • Practices extraction. The reflection prompts, knowledge checks, and client-progression patterns that recur across courses haven't been extracted into a cross-framework practices section yet.
  • Source repo links. Framework pages currently reference local filesystem paths to lesson sources. When the course repo gets a public or org-private GitHub home, swap in the URLs.
