Portal Orientation

Procedural orientation for clients entering the KCG portal. Not a coaching framework — a working agreement and a tour.

This page mirrors the structure of 01-getting-started (Course 01). The full lesson lives in the source repo at ~/Documents/GitHub/kcg-client-portal-courses/01-getting-started/01-getting-started-with-kcg.md.

What the portal is for

The portal is where coaching work lives between sessions: session notes, goal tracking, coursework, messages, account settings. It supports the work — it does not replace the work or the relationship.

Authentication

  • Magic link sent to a verified email address (default sign-in method).
  • Password as an alternative, set in account settings.
  • Two-factor authentication recommended for all accounts.

See glossary for definitions.

Privacy and data ownership

Your data belongs to you.

  • Coach has access to session notes, goals, and coursework progress to support the work.
  • No third parties have access unless required by law.
  • No advertising, no data selling, no behavioral analytics.
  • Data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure, encrypted in transit and encrypted at rest.

Data backup is the client's responsibility

The portal supports the work. It is not a permanent archive. Anything the client wants to keep long-term — session notes, goal tracking, completed worksheets — is the client's responsibility to export and back up to their own device.

The partnership

The coach provides:

  • The platform
  • Session facilitation
  • Frameworks and coursework
  • Direct feedback
  • A structured coaching process

The client provides:

  • Showing up prepared
  • Completing assigned coursework
  • Backing up their own data
  • Owning their process
  • Communicating openly

This is a partnership. You will get out what you put in.

Acknowledged on joining

These are the operating conditions. They remain in force throughout the engagement.

  • The client is responsible for backing up data they want to keep long-term.
  • The portal is a tool, not an archive.
  • Data is encrypted and stored on Cloudflare; no third-party access without legal compulsion.
  • The client is expected to show up prepared, complete coursework, and communicate openly.
  • The engagement is a partnership.

What follows orientation

The first interactive worksheet is Understanding Values — three parts: personal values hierarchy, what gets compromised under pressure, and the gap between an institution's stated and rewarded values. Fillable, autosaved, exportable.

After Values, the client moves into the methodology arc: Naming the Engagement → Naming the Cause → Naming the Objective → Naming the Structure → Naming the Right → Naming the Signal → Naming the Calibration.
